DAS Solar Pioneers in UV Resistance with Its First UVID Certification from TÜV Rheinland

2025-05-08

Munich, May 8, 2025 - DAS Solar, a leader in N-type PV technology, was awarded its first UVID certification by TÜV Rheinland at the Intersolar Europe in Munich. The certification, based on the 2 PfG 2944/07.23 standard, not only highlights DAS Solar's leadership in UVID resistance for N-type modules, but also marks a significant milestone in the company's advancements in reliability testing. The certification ceremony was attended by Mr. Weichun Li, Vice President of Global Power Electronics Business Segment, Vice President of Solar & Commercial Products Greater China of TÜV Rheinland Group, and Mr. Vincent Cao, Senior Vice President of DAS Solar.

Ultraviolet-induced degradation (UVID) refers to the power loss that occurs when PV modules are exposed to UV radiation over an extended period outdoors. As N-type TOPCon becomes the dominant high-efficiency cell technology and is widely adopted across various applications, the long-term stability of modules under strong UV conditions has become a focal point. To better characterize the performance of N-type high-efficiency modules under extreme UV environments, TÜV Rheinland developed the 2 PfG 2944/07.23 standard based on IEC certification guidelines. This standard simulates strong UV exposure scenarios to assess the power stability and resistance to degradation of modules in such conditions.

The testing procedure, which involves front-side UV exposure of 120 kWh/m² and back-side exposure of 60 kWh/m², evaluates multiple critical indicators, including appearance, electrical performance, and safety. After testing, the module's power degradation must not exceed 3%. The standard specifically addresses the potential structural instability and performance degradation of high-efficiency N-type products under intense UV radiation, setting stricter verification requirements.

Under this framework, DAS Solar's DH132NE high-efficiency N-type module successfully passed the test with its comprehensive UVID solution. The test results showed that, after intense UV exposure, the module's power degradation remained below 1% under standard test conditions (STC), far exceeding the 3.0% limit requirement. This outstanding performance fully validates the effectiveness of DAS Solar's UVID solution and guarantees the long-term stability of the modules, ensuring reliable operation in demanding applications.

Receiving the first UVID certification from TÜV Rheinland is a significant recognition of DAS Solar's UV resistance technology, paving the way for entering extreme application markets, such as high-altitude and desert regions with high UV radiation. Looking ahead, DAS Solar will continue to follow a technology-driven and product-leading strategy, driving the solar industry towards a new phase of quality development.
